The following security measures are taken at Kempegowda Bus Stand for passenger safety:

  • Only five gates are meant for entry into bus stand as restricted entrance options.

  • OP cameras capture activities at KBS. They have been installed at the key points for effective and maximum control plus monitoring by the Central Office Control Roomround the clock.
  • Establishment of modern Control Room ascertains perfect monitoring of security operations to keep vigil on security aspects twenty-four seven.
  • The strength of security guards has been increased to 58 from earlier 43 guards
  • On peak days and weekends additional security personnel from the neighboring divisions are deployed here.
  • Round the clock KSRP platoon facility is available through their stationing.
  • Proposal has already been submitted to the Government to upgrade the existing sub Police Station into a completely equipped Police Station for more security.
  • Police has been coordinated for effective solutions to dispose offall unclaimed luggage n the cloakroom besides timely steps to dispose abandoned vehicles.
  • Facilities like establishment of wireless network among Kempegowda Bus Station, MCTC Bus Station and Central Office make bus operations monitoring more appealing.

In other major bus stations

  • Passenger baggage is checked through hand held metal detectors for safety purpose.
  • Bus stations like Mangalore, Tumkur, Mysore City and Mandya have been commissioned for CCTV surveillance. Phased work on other major bus stations is in process for similar facilities.
  • The team comprising of security staffs at all these bus stations includes professionals from the Home Guards; Private Civilian Guards and Ex-servicemen amongst others.
  • Mysore City and surrounding 12 depots have been facilitated with wireless network facility to ensure best possible bus operation and communication facilities.

Ksrtc Passengers Accident Relief Fund Trust

  • With effect from 01-06-2002, KSRTC Passengers Accident Relief Fund Trust was established to ensure immediate financial relief can be provided to all legal heirs of any passenger facing mishapor deceased due to road accidentoccurring from unfortunate KSRTC bus accidents.
  • Such relief offered through ARF Trust is additional besides MACT claims which KSRTC settles.
  • With effect from 01-09-2008, the relief amount is enhanced to Rs.2.50 lakhs per passenger.
  • Carrying out rescue operations through trusting self and maintaining 8 wreckers during road accidents are other valuable options.
